Surrender Rule: This rule is specifically used in American casinos. If the ball lands on either 0 or 00, half of the even money bets are returned to the player.

The payouts of inside bets are generally much higher than those of outside bets. But the odds of winning these are also lower! On the other hand, the outside bets have lesser payouts, but odds of winning can be as high as 50%. Special rules can, however, change these payouts.
